Haiku, Maui

Haiku, Maui

Haiku, Maui Real Estate

Did you know . . .

Haiku, Maui can be pouring rain, and at the same time, Kihei is bone dry

Haiku, Maui offers pockets of residential homes and building lots within rolling terrain of fertile land. Haiku is chopped up into many windy roads and without a map in hand, you could be in for an interesting tour. Haiku is a great place to "get away from it all", but still have the conveniences relatively close by such as shopping. No matter what, you are always close to one of the roads that will take you back down to the Hana Highway, or back up through Makawao. In Haiku, you will find lands zoned mostly agricultural, and with the exception of many 2 lot subdivisions, allow for farm animals.

Continuing on to Hana, Huelo, a quiet "rooster town" famous for Kaulanapueo Church built in 1853. Huelo offers more of an escape to reality with a back to nature twist. Here you will find folks getting their water from drilled wells, and using alternative electricity measures such as photovolcaic or generators. The area is spectacular to see for those who want to be away but not too far away from town.

The next town is Kailua. Kailua is not too abundant in properties for sale. If heading to Hana, inquire with my office for possible listings in Kailua since you are already on the way.

We then come to Keanae. Keanae sports Honomanu Valley, just before the Keanae Arboretum, the largest valley on the north side of Haleakala. Keanae is like a picture carved in stone of the old Hawaiian ways, especially in relation to the meticulously maintained taro patches. Like Kailua, check with my office due to low inventory of properties in Keanae.

Nahiku is the next village, and considered the wettest spot on the coast. The road down to lower Nahiku is adorned with older homes and now, small mini estates. It was good enough for George Harrison to buy! If Hana is where you want to be, we might take a look at Nahiku also. If you can put up with the wet conditions, Nahiku should be a consideration.
